The nucleocapsid protein is one of the 4 structural proteins of the Covid-19 virus. This protein has non-specific nucleic acid binding capacities and associates with the viral RNA. It facilitates viral replication and is involved in viral particle assembly and release from the cell. The NC protein is a highly immunogenic and abundantly expressed protein during infection and is a frequently used target in vaccine development and serological assays.

Western blot was performed on 2 µg of purified Covid-19 nucleocapsid (NC) protein (6xHis tagged) using the Diagenode antibody against Covid-19 NC (Cat. No. C15310269), diluted 1:1,000 in PBS-T containing 3% NFDM. The marker is shown on the left, the position of the NC protein is indicated on the right.
